  • They often nest high in structures and trail down for food and water.
  • They do not nest in soil.
  • They have distinct, visible trails.
  • They prefer sweet but they will eat fat & grease.
  • Foraging workers share food with the brood.
  • A strength of the colony is that concern for the individual is limited.
  • A weakness of the colony is that the colony basically lives to serve the queen.
  • Introducing a sample of food to a trail helps you determine the direction of the nest.
