Rattus rattus
The Roof Rat can be found anywhere humans exist and within 100km of the coastline, they are excellent climbers and their ability to climb is suited to domestic roof voids and warehouse situations. Rats cause damage by gnawing on buildings, furnishings and electrical wiring in some cases resulting in building fires. Features include, pointed nose, dark brown – black fur, large eyes & ears, tail longer than head & body, droppings pointed ends.
